Social entrepreneurship challenge in the Indo-Pacific (SECIP): ATS2170 / ATS3170 / APG5170

Are you interested in building an innovative social enterprise alongside students from around the Indo-Pacific? Monash Arts offers an intensive virtual program designed to give you real-world experience working with an international, interdisciplinary team, you will be guided through an entirely virtual incubator with the support of leading industry mentors and academics.

Over the course of two weeks, you will attend structured workshops, seminars, skills development and mentor sessions to identify a challenge, test your assumptions, make, break and re-create a solution and then pitch your solution and enterprise to a panel of experts.

Climate justice challenges in the Indo-Pacific: ATS2880 / ATS3880 / AMU2880

The effects of climate change are upon us. Responding to the socio-political and technical challenges of this crisis will require coordinated thought and action across global borders, between established states and amongst multiple publics. Not least of these challenges is that of ‘just transition’ as the inequalities exacerbated by late capitalism create new socio-political divisions which in-turn complicate responses to the fundamental crisis of our age.

Topics for the place-based evaluations and place-based solutions that inform enquiry in this unit include:

the effects of climate-related inequalities on access to energy; infrastructure and urban resilience; and unequal impacts on health.

This international and interdisciplinary unit is co-designed by experts in intercultural education, collaborative online learning and climate change, and is delivered in collaborative online intensive mode.

This unit will equip students with the interpersonal and inter-cultural skills to work effectively in international teams. At the end of this unit students will be able to generate impact-oriented and ethical ways of addressing the inter-twined effects of climate change and deepening inequality.

Creative interventions -  Achieving change through global collaboration: ATS3205 / APG5205

In this intensive online program, you will work with students from Monash Australia and international partner universities to create a virtual exhibition that explores a pressing social justice issue in a global context. Through expert-led sessions, interactive workshops and collaborative project work, you will develop creative communication skills while learning how to engage diverse audiences with complex social challenges.
