When considering overseas study programs, it is important to understand that each type of program has its own set of tuition fees and costs associated with participating in the program such as travel and accommodation. Explore the various grants and scholarships available to help fund your travels.

Monash Abroad (Australia) Travel Grant

The Monash Abroad (Australia) Travel Grant is intended to help offset some of the costs of studying overseas . It offers funding from $1,250 to $2,500 for various overseas programs to enhance your travel experience.

Additional Funding Support

You may be eligible to apply for additional funding for overseas travel from other sources, including internal and external options. While you're usually considered for the highest available funding for which you are eligible, some external schemes may allow you to receive funding from multiple scholarships, bursaries, or grants at the same time.

OS-HELP Loan

OS-HELP is a Commonwealth Government loan program. It provides financial assistance to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate Commonwealth Supported Place students to study part of their course overseas

New Colombo Plan Mobility Program

The Australian Government's New Colombo Plan (NCP) Mobility Program Grant helps cover living expenses during your global mobility program. The grants are accessible to students participating in selected Global Study Tours or Language Intensive Programs to specific Indo-Pacific countries.

New Colombo Plan Semester Program

The Australian Government's New Colombo Plan (NCP) Semester Program Grant helps cover living expenses during your semester or year long exchange program for selected locations. The grants are accessible to students enrolling in a specific field of study and are participating in exchange at selected partners to specified Indo-Pacific countries.

New Colombo Plan Scholarships

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) Scholarship is a highly coveted Australian Government scholarship. Monash University selects students via a competitive application process. Shortlisted students are nominated to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) for consideration and final awarding of a Scholarship.

Centrelink

While Centrelink doesn't offer grants, it is possible for you to continue to receive, or going overseas to study may make you eligible to receive government income support payments while overseas. You are able to receive a letter from Monash Abroad that you can provide to Centrelink which confirms the time and nature of your travel for study so the payments will be made while you are away.

If you are participating in a semester abroad or Global Winter/Summer Program, you will be automatically issued with what’s called a Confirmation Document following the submission of your host acceptance paperwork.

For all other Monash Abroad programs (excluding Global Immersion Guarantee (GIG)), you will need to request your Confirmation Document from Monash Abroad by completing the form under the Centrelink support documents, on the PROGRAM RELATED EXPENSES tab, on the program’s brochure page.
