New Colombo Plan (NCP) Semester Program funding has been awarded to Monash University by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) as part of a signature initiative that aims to lift the knowledge of the Indo-Pacific within Australia and to strengthen our people-to-people and institutional relationships.
The NCP Semester Program Grant helps cover living expenses during your semester exchange program for selected locations. The grants are accessible to students enrolling in a specific field of study and are participating in exchange at selected partners to specified Indo-Pacific countries.
Some NCP funded programs may involve additional cultural and language requirements beyond the exchange, and where applicable, will be specified in the program brochure.
You do not need to apply for these grants. Your eligibility will be automatically assessed by Monash Abroad if you are accepted into a semester or year long exchange program with a selected partner with NCP Semester Program funding.

A limited number of grants up to $15,000 each are available to Monash University students for study at selected exchange partners and for specific fields of study. If the number of available grants is less than the number of eligible students, students are selected on evaluation of their personal statement (if this was part of the program selection), on academic merit (the WAM in the student’s current degree at the time of being accepted into the program) and equity indicators..
Only successful recipients are notified by Monash Abroad if they are selected to receive a grant via email after they have been formally nominated or accepted into the exchange program by the host university. You must accept the grant and complete all the required Monash Abroad and DFAT requirements to receive payment. The grant offer cannot be deferred for exchange in another semester.
When all these requirements are met, payment will be scheduled in the next available payment cycle. This is likely to occur approximately 4 weeks before your program start date.
