Your study plan
You can apply to study at Monash for one or two semesters.
As part of your application you will be required to create a study plan, which is a list of units (subjects) that you wish to study at Monash. Before you do this, carefully read the information on our academic advising and our academic considerations pages.
You can select units directly from our Monash handbook, or from our packages created for Study Abroad students. More information about what you can study at Monash, including a list of the packages we offer, is available on our study options page.
We recommend choosing at least 6-8 units for your study plan, in case some units cannot be approved or there are timetable clashes. You are required to study a full-time study load of 18-24 Monash credit points per semester (usually 3-4 units).
Ensure you consult the handbook entries for your chosen units, and check for the following criteria:
- if the unit has any prerequisite requirements you will need to provide evidence in your application, typically additional documentation, which shows that you clearly meet the requirements
- ensure the unit is available in the semester you are studying at Monash
- the study and year level of all the units you choose is suitable for your degree progression
- choose units that are all taught at the same campus, with the exception of Caulfield and Clayton, where you can study units across the two campuses
If you are applying to study at Monash for two semesters, only include units for your first semester at Monash in your study plan. You will be able to review and choose the units for your second semester towards the end of your first semester.
If the Monash handbook for the semester that you are applying to come to Monash has not been published online yet, refer to the unit offerings for that semester in the previous year (e.g. if Semester 2, 2022 is not available yet in the handbook, refer to units offered in the handbook for Semester 2, 2021).
Your supporting documentation
Along with your application, you will need to prepare and provide the following documentation:
- One official academic transcript from previous and current tertiary institutions you have attended (with certified English translation, if applicable). Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.
- Proof of English language proficiency, if applicable
- A clear copy of your passport's personal information page. Make sure your name, citizenship and other personal details are exactly the same as in the passport information page you submit with your application
Your application will only be considered when all the above documentation is provided.
