The Department of Banking and Finance is a global leader in finance research and teaching. Our research strengths include: asset pricing; corporate finance; financial intermediation; behavioural finance; and funds management.

Our academics within the department enjoy an outstanding record of quality publications in top international journals. Through their research our faculty aims to influence and shape the future agenda of the finance discipline. Our department also seeks to make a difference on the policy front.

Broad teaching portfolio

The Department provides state-of-the-art teaching in finance, in undergraduate, graduate, honours, and MBA programs. In our teaching we provide students with knowledge about financial decisions, skills for future professionals and integrity required to work in finance-related positions.

International engagement

The Department of Banking and Finance is also committed to ensuring Monash Business School students remain engaged with leading researchers from around the world. We invite prestigious national and international industry and academic professionals to share their extensive knowledge through workshops, departmental seminars and public lectures.

Fostering the exchange of ideas

We have strong industry partnerships which enable us to offer students close ties with professionals through our leadership programs, industry placements, and through our focus on applied learning in both our undergraduate and graduate teaching programs.
