Description
Who is responsible for Australia's toxic pollution? Are the largest emitters reducing their environmental footprint?
Using data from the National Pollution Inventory (NPI), this research brief examines trends in toxic emissions, with a particular focus on ASX200-listed firms. The findings show that emissions remain concentrated in the Mining, Manufacturing, and Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services sectors.
While the share of total emissions attributable to ASX200 firms has declined over the past decade, there is little evidence that emissions intensity is converging across firms.
