Professor Marilyn Pittard appointed Interim Dean

Professor Marilyn Pittard, Interim Dean, Faculty of Law

Monash University has announced the appointment of Professor Marilyn Pittard as Interim Dean, Faculty of Law, commencing Monday 4 March 2024.  Executive Dean Professor Bryan Horrigan will step down from his position on Friday 1 March 2024.

Prof Pittard has been a member of the Faculty's Executive committee for almost two decades, most recently as Associate Dean Engagement. As Professor of Law in the Law Faculty, her responsibilities include labour and employment law in both the undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes.

Prof Pittard was appointed Associate Dean Engagement in 2022, after completing a term as LLM Director in 2022 and a three year term as Associate Dean Academic Resourcing at the end of 2020. She served as  Associate Dean, International and Engagement from 2011 to end 2015, Associate Dean (Postgraduate Studies) in the Faculty of Law in 2009, and also for the period 2003 to 2006.

Prof Pittard was Associate Dean (Research) for two periods, 1997 to 2000 and 2007 to 2009. She has also served as Director of the Honours Programme; Deputy Associate Dean, International and Engagement (2016-2017); and Acting Dean in the Faculty.
