Mycoplasma testing

Mycoplasma contamination does not alter the appearance of media and cannot be detected by light microscopy. Mycoplasma contamination of cell cultures can cause chromosomal aberrations, disrupt nucleic acid synthesis, change membrane antigenicity, inhibit cell proliferation and metabolism, decrease transfection rates, change gene expression profiles, and even bring about cell death. MADP offers either a PCR or a sensitive kit-based detection service for mycoplasma. If your cells are positive, we can treat them with Plasmocure which has been shown to be effective in removing mycoplasma from over 90% of cell lines in a recent study
