Monash X-Ray Platform
The Monash X-ray Platform (MXP) is an ISO 9001
certified, open access Research Platform that provides access to advanced in-house X-ray diffraction, scattering and photoelectron spectroscopy instrumentation as well as services, consultancy and training.
The MXP is one of the largest in-house X-ray instrument facilities in Australia, supporting innovation across multiple disciplines, including in the design of materials for industrial, environmental and biomedical applications and development of green technologies and processes for energy production and mining. It plays an important role in educating and supporting students in materials characterisation and is a key complementary facility to the Australian Synchrotron and the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication (MCN), the Australian National Fabrication Facility’s (ANFF) central node in Victoria. MXP works closely with the Monash Centre for Electron Microscopy (MCEM) and Monash Centre for Additive Manufacturing (MCAM) in providing advanced materials characterisation and scientific support.
Our platform also provides protein structure and morphology characterisation work in close cooperation with the Macromolecular Crystallisation Platform, the Ramaciotti Centre for Cryo-Electron Microscopy, and the Proteomics & Metabolomics Platform under the Monash Protein Characterization Capability grouping. Together, we offer a broader range of protein characterization techniques that are useful both before and after crystallisation and for other applications.
Our instrumentation and services are available to Monash researchers, external universities, government research agencies and industry.
