Mr Micah Scott

Micah Scott

Micah Scott is a fierce advocate for LGBTIQ youth, leading the creation of the Minus18 Foundation, Australia’s youth driven charity for LGBTIQ young people.

Minus18 has one goal: to create an Australia free from homophobia and transphobia where all young people can thrive and belong. Since 2011, Minus18 has supported more than 60,000 young people through events, and provided inclusive education to hundreds of thousands of young people in schools across the country. Taking a strengths based approach, Minus18 flips the typical bullying narrative on its head, empowering LGBTIQ youth to be fearless leaders.

Growing up, Micah experienced first hand the impact homophobic bullying can have. Determined to channel his own experiences into opportunities, Micah has since led the development of ground breaking LGBTIQ youth initiatives Australia wide, including the national Queer Formal event and the first national LGBTIQ Education Curriculum.

Micah has also worked as Creative Director and advisor for organisations nationwide, including the Shannon Company, Behaviour Change, the Oaktree Foundation, The Foundation for Young Australians, La Trobe University and The Victorian Government.

In 2011 Micah was named finalist for the Victorian Young Australian of the Year, and named the Victorian LGBTIQ Person of the Year in 2017.
