Monash achieves highest-ever position in the QS World University Rankings 2027

Monash University has risen five places to 31st in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2027 – its strongest performance to date.

The historic result, up from 36th last year, continues the University’s upward trajectory in the rankings for more than a decade, reflecting its growing impact, influence and reputation globally.

Monash also achieved the greatest improvement across Australia’s top-ranking Group of Eight universities.

“In just under 70 years Monash has become one of the world’s leading universities,” said Monash University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Sharon Pickering.

"In fact, Monash is one of the fastest rising universities in the top 50 globally, accelerating 29 places in the past decade.

“We have a proud history, heritage and an ambitious set of aspirations for our future and impact. This performance reinforces that we are well-positioned to advance our strategic aspiration of social and technological transformation for the communities and industries we serve.”

Monash’s success is attributed to its outstanding research performance, its international reputation for academic excellence and its commitment to global sustainability.

Rankings are international benchmarks that recognise collective success – evidence of our student employability, research breakthroughs and impact, innovation, global partnerships, academic talent, commitment to sustainability and contributions both domestically and internationally.

Our success in these rankings and the recent QS World University Subject rankings is underpinned by the QS employer and academic reputation indicators, which are gleaned from participants in the QS global reputation surveys.
