You can choose to start a language from a beginner level. This means you do not need any background knowledge to start the language units.
If you have previously studied the language in VCE or equivalent, and are accepted into the Diploma of Languages, you can start studying at intermediate level or above. You can choose one of the following to show proof of proficiency:

If you have prior knowledge of your chosen language, a language entry level test will determine whether you are placed in beginners, intermediate or advanced units.

Credit
If you have completed a language unit at Monash in your undergraduate studies, this cannot be credited towards the Diploma (view the Enrolment policy here). If you completed units at any other institution you must complete and submit an Application for Credit before this can be processed.

If accepted, here are the instructions for amending your enrollment. Normally, students enrol into 4 units (24 credit points) per semester, however you will need to amend your enrolment to the following:
