About us

Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is an objectives-based, equity-free program for massively scalable science and tech-based companies.

CDL operates across five sites in Canada, three in the United States, five in Europe, and one in Australia. It partners with leading global business schools, such as the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and HEC Paris. Monash Business School established CDL’s first Australian site at Monash University in July 2023.

The nine-month program employs an objectives-based mentoring process to enhance the performance of technical founders who learn from the insights of experienced entrepreneurs, with the goal of maximising equity-value creation.

The program combines elements to help ventures transition to scalable and financeable companies:

  • Focused mentorship from domain experts and experienced entrepreneurs who have founded, led, and sold significant tech companies
  • Technical advice from world-leading scientists, engineers, and economists, who are leaders in their respective fields
  • Opportunities to engage with angel investors, venture capital firms, and institutions across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region
  • Hands-on support from top-tier business students

As a measure of success, over 2,900 companies have completed the highly competitive CDL program as of 2025, generating more than A$51 billion in equity value. These ventures have participated across twenty-three specialised streams, including sectors such as AI, climate, fintech, energy, biotech, health, quantum, and space.

Graduates include companies such as Atomwise (deep learning drug discovery), Eavor (geothermal energy), North (augmented reality, acquired by Google), Tenstorrent (deep learning processors), and Xanadu (quantum computing).
