Dr Sahar Soltani

Dr Sahar Soltani is a Research Fellow at the Future Building Initiative lab at Monash University, where she collaborates with Building 4.0 CRC, leading several projects. She holds a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering (B.Arch.E.) and a Master of Architectural Engineering (M.Arch.E.) and is a registered Architectural Engineer in Iran. With years of experience as a university lecturer, Sahar has also worked in the architecture and construction industry in Iran. She is affiliated with the Australian Research Centre for Interactive and Virtual Environments (IVE).

Sahar earned her PhD in Architecture, specialising in Architectural Science and Technology with a focus on Computational Design Sustainability. Her research developed a methodology to tackle the complex challenges of social sustainability by using computational methods to analyse spatial patterns and social processes. Her work, combining both quantitative and qualitative research methods, has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences. She has also been invited as a guest lecturer for Architecture, Construction, Urban Design, and IT courses to share insights from her multidisciplinary research.

Currently, Sahar’s research addresses the significant challenges in the Australian construction industry, covering topics like industrialisation, Modern Methods of Construction, construction technology, and sustainable built environments. She has been actively involved in several ARC and CRC multidisciplinary research projects, working closely with industry partners, end-users, government, and practitioners to ensure real-world impact. Sahar's collaborative network extends to the University of South Australia, the University of Adelaide, RMIT University, Tianjin University, and the Technical University of Denmark.
