About

The Design Health Collab develops high-impact healthcare product design, technologies, systems, and services. Our human-centred design approach aims to resolve complex challenges across the health and wellbeing industry, tailored to real-world use cases.

We bring expertise in all areas of design for health including cross-faculty university partners, designers, clinical leaders and industry experts. We collaborate with consumers, healthcare workers and those with lived experience to co-design services and systems, communication and user experiences, product design and wearables and design advocacy and commercialisation.

Our research is organised across four key areas:

  • Product design and wearables
Innovative, functional and aesthetically relevant devices
  • Service and system design
User-centred and co-designed solutions for complexity.
  • Communication and user experience
Inclusive communication platforms and systems designed to empower people.
  • Design advocacy and commercialisation
Providing evidence of the impact and value of design on health and wellbeing.

We have three core values that underpins all our research:

  1. Embrace all design and creative practice contributions to provide meaningful impact in health and wellbeing.
  2. Ensure that health and wellness solutions are accessible and equitable.
  3. Build the next generation of health designers.

Our MedTech capability

We bring a design lens to our projects, bringing disparate things together in one holistic object, collaborating with industry and academia. From new models of care for the healthcare industry and wearables, through to smart Blundstone boots and stroke imagers that can fit into the back of an ambulance.
