RetroFit Kit
This exhibition demonstrates how common Australian housing types, such as freestanding houses, walk up flats, townhouses and garage houses, can be systematically modified to achieve seamless and dignified home environments for people with disability, their families and carers and future occupants. It highlights the strategic potential of architectural design in making homes more equitable and accessible to all.
This exhibition is part of a collaborative research project between Monash Architecture and the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC)
Join us at the launch where the Exhibition will be introduced by: Dr Ben Gauntlett, Disability Discrimination Commissioner, AHRC, Professor Mel Dodd, Head of Monash Architecture and Annabelle Low, Monash Architecture student. The exhibition opening will be followed by the launch of Architecture Australia special issue “Designing with Dignity” with Katelin Butler, Editorial Director, Architecture Media.
Research education units led by Monash Urban Lab with design and fabrication by students at MADA.
This event is part of Melbourne Design Week 2022, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.
