Important Information | the Architecture Professional Practice Lecture featuring Carme Pinós - cancellation

Monash Art, Design and Architecture (MADA) are disappointed to inform you that due to airline issues, Carme Pinós will not arrive in Melbourne in time for her lecture at MADA on Tuesday 19 March. As a result of the impact this delay will have on her schedule in Australia, we are not able to find a suitable new time for the lecture, regrettably, it is therefore cancelled.

However, the AA UnBuilt Work Exhibition Launch 2024 will take place on Tuesday 19 March as planned. We look forward to seeing you at 5.30 PM in the MADA Caulfield Campus G Building concourse for light refreshments, marking the launch of this exhibition that features 15 shortlisted entries for this year's prestigious prize and a short address from Georgia Birks, associate editor at Architecture Media.

The 2018 MPavilion, designed by Estudio Carme Pinós, has been generously donated by the Naomi Milgrim Foundation to the Monash Peninsula campus. It will open from 20 March.

Join us for a guest lecture by Carme Pinós, the first lecture of 2024 which is part of the Monash Architecture Professional Practice Lectures.

The first lecture in the Professional Practice Lecture Series by Carme Pinós of Estudio Carme Pinós will delve into the intricate dynamics of architectural practice. Rather than an exploration of individual buildings, the event will consider the processes and challenges architects face in their work, as well as the evolving directions of the profession. Carme Pinós, a globally renowned architectural figure, brings to the forefront her extensive experience spanning public architecture, social housing, urban renewal, and furniture design. Through her established firm, Estudio Carme Pinós, she has crafted a portfolio marked by notable projects that embody her distinctive approach, emphasising folded materials, architectural narrative, and humanistic principles. Her work reflects a commitment to fostering inclusive social environments, where spaces facilitate meaningful interactions and foster a sense of community and belonging. With a keen eye on regional influences and community dynamics, Carme Pinós champions experiential volumes over grandiose architectural statements, echoing her belief in architecture's capacity to shape inclusive and interconnected environments. The event promises to be an insightful exploration of how architects like Carme Pinós navigate the complexities of their practice while engaging with diverse communities and locales, ultimately shaping the fabric of our built environment with sensitivity and purpose.

The AA Prize Unbuilt exhibition will be launched at 5.30pm, followed by the lecture at 6pm.
