Join us in the office of JCB architects to hear about the practice of Alison Page, who is exhibiting a retrospective of her work at the Design Gallery at Melbourne University - Alison Page: Creative Shape Shifter. Alison is a descendant of the Dharawal and Yuin people and is an award-winning multidimensional creative at the forefront of the contemporary Australian Aboriginal design movement. Her career began in the late 90’s working in architecture and interior design in Australia’s first Aboriginal architecture group Merrima. Her award-winning work spans design, public art, film, exhibitions and major urban design projects across Australia. In 2015 she was inducted into the Design Institute of Australia Hall of Fame and in 2022 was the Interior Design Excellence Awards Gold Medal winner. Alison was a panelist for eight years on the ABC television program The New Inventors, which showcased Australian innovation. In 2021 she co-authored Design, Building on Country with Paul Memmott, published by Thames and Hudson Australia as part of their First Knowledges Series. She is the founder of the National Aboriginal Design Agency and the House of BLAK. She is currently a Professor of Practice in the School of Architecture at the University of Technology Sydney and a member of several cultural boards including the National Australia Day Council, Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, and the Australian National Maritime Museum.

Inside | Practice is the guest lecture series of the Department of Architecture at Monash University and brings together emerging and established practitioners, alternative studios and allied professionals to share diverse approaches to architectural practice today.
