Laura Gutierrez-Bucheli is a research fellow at the Future Building Initiative, passionate about driving innovation in construction through education, sustainability, and productivity. Her background in both Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) enables her to bring a unique transdisciplinary perspective to construction and building research, fostering innovative solutions that benefit the industry.

At the Future Building Initiative, Laura focuses on construction management, investigating effective methods for measuring and monitoring building productivity. Her prior experience includes working on applied research projects on scheduling and control, lean construction methodologies, and building information technology (BIM) implementation.

Laura holds a PhD from Monash University. Her thesis, titled "Engineering Education for Sustainability: An International Cross-Case Analysis," explored how engineering programs integrate sustainability considerations into their curriculum. Through cross-case analysis, she developed a hybrid theoretical-empirical model that showcases the range of potential and actual responses to sustainability education in engineering. Laura also holds a Master's degree in Construction Management and a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia.
