Building 4.0 CRC Showcase and Forum 2024
On Wednesday, 19 June, Building 4.0 CRC Annual Showcase and Forum 2024 was held at Caulfield campus.
Amid a global housing crisis, with every major city worldwide missing housing targets, the showcase included innovation in housing design, processes and workflows and new technologies to speed up construction.
Professor Mathew Aitchison, CEO of Building 4.0 CRC, opened the event, announcing 2024 as “the year of the solution”.

The studio, led by Professor Chris Knapp, Research Director at Building 4.0 CRC and Jean-Paul Rollo, Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Professional Practice in Monash’s Department of Architecture, is tied to Project #66 Future of Construction Education, and presents a valuable opportunity for Monash students to contribute to the research outcomes and final report for the project.
This showcase follows last week's visit to Caulfield campus by the Minister for Industry and Science, the Hon Ed Husic MP who joined Monash Art, Design and Architecture’s Interim Dean, Professor Mel Dodd, for a preview of some of the leading projects and research currently being developed by the CRC.

Building 4.0 CRC is a research initiative co-funded by industry partners and the Australian Government. It is tasked with revolutionising how buildings are designed, constructed and operated to build faster, safer, more sustainably and at a lower cost. Now in its fourth year (of seven), Building 4.0 CRC is working with industry and governments to achieve an 80% reduction in construction waste; 50% cut in CO2 emissions and a 30% decrease in production costs by developing a more industralised approach to building.
