Dr Victor Calixto
Victor Calixto is a Research Fellow with the Future Building Initiative at Monash University. At FBI, he works on industrialised construction and digital toolmaking, developing computational tools to support the design value chain and advance data-driven approaches to building design and delivery. His broader research interests include computational and parametric design, generative and data-driven design, Building Information Modelling (BIM), extended realities (VR/AR/XR), artificial intelligence, free and open-source software, and cybersecurity.
Victor completed his PhD at the University of South Australia, where he developed an integrated data-driven framework for computational urban design, resulting in the free and open-source toolkit Mega-Polis. He also holds a Master’s degree by research from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), where he focused on evolutionary algorithms for automating architectural layouts.
He has taught in the areas of computational design, digital media, and construction at the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. His academic collaborations extend across RMIT University, UNICAMP, University of South Australia, and the University of Adelaide.
In Brazil, Victor lectured at Belas Artes University and Anhembi Morumbi University, contributing to courses in computational design, digital fabrication, and design studio. As a practising professional, he has delivered projects ranging from exhibition pavilions and residential and commercial buildings to interior and furniture design. He is also a registered architect and planner in Brazil.
Victor is a member of the Association for Computer-Aided Architectural Design Research in Asia (CAADRIA), the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC)², and the Australian Information Security Association (AISA).
