Catalyzed by the future underground line, students will collaborate to create an active community-focused precinct in Clifton Hill - activated by appropriate, relevant civic spaces and commercial programs.
Through a critical interogation of local transport- oriented preceincts, we will be proposing a new station preceinct for Clifton Hill, linking existing and proposed transport modes with existing civic areas. Through exploitation of congregational typologies and a fresh perspective on ‘dirty’ commercial considerations; we will explore all possibilities for active programming and suitable, relevant amenity to all user groups.
Design esquisses will use research findings to fuel abstract processes of artistic drawing and making, architectural model making, architectural drawing, and 3D modeling; producing a series of site charrettes. From this ‘exquisite corpse’ of sorts, these will then be incorporated into a cohesive proposal. We will share, mix and build on individual and group exercises to form a series of considered site strategies, building a critical vision for the site as a collective.
Thank you for travelling with us, and we wish you a pleasant journey.
