This is terrifyingly personal. Because right now, all these things are important. To me. Not all for the same reasons, though those reasons do intersect. I see myself reflected in these objects, and in what they can represent, their potential. I see the idealism, the sur-reality, detachment, larger- than-life performance, and the hypocrisy as inseparable. An overwhelming amount of ways to organise and connect them, to make sense of it all. And I am scared. Scared that they will be dismissed. That things and ideas and concepts that are so personal appear “trashy” like sweets, games, toys, somehow less than. I am scared that this is not considered art.
Because if this isn’t art, what does that say about me?
