Evelyn O'Brien Burns
A triptych of large-scale, polymorphic oil paintings, Visceral Viscera explores the human form caught in metamorphosis.
Controlling, and then surrendering the line of the body to moments of chaos, this work intends to dissect the human anatomy through partial abstraction and achieve a kind of physicality that is driven by the subconscious.
In a liquefied collision of anatomical parts that fluctuate between the macro and the micro, these works navigate the grotesque, yet alluring beauty of the human form when bodily control is lost to carnal desire.
