Exploring the relationship between one’s consciousness and the objective physical world,
de Bono’ s work applies the action of walking to discern how our perception of the world as we move through it is governed by our subjectivity. In acknowledgement of the artist’s contention that individuals create an inner geography of space before they walk through it, de Bono demonstrates the projection of this internal mapping across the exterior world.

In considering spatial compositions created by walking de Bono explores the establishment of a point of departure and point of arrival in the construction of a line of movement.

Direction explores two statements that promote a single line of physical movement, yet are fuelled by an attention and response to opposite ends of the line. In isolating the internal motives of the walker, Direction considers how our perception of an indifferent exterior world is created through the subjectivity of our attention, goals and consciousness.
