Jiali Hu
I’m Jiali. Just another industrial designer who cares about things and tries their best. I see design as a powerful tool which can lead us to a brighter future.
Love pushing boundaries in different fields, I enjoy design simple but quirky products which bring individuals joy, or projects can do more than produce, consume and disposal. Oh right, I draw a lot too.
What exactly are we designing? Who are we actually design for? Will it make any change? Guess we will never know until we try.
Project Description:
This is a side project of “After Warracknabeal”.
MADA together with Working heritage team are planning a refurbishment of existing old Warracknabeal courthouse and surrounds. An experimental, new building living space/ observatory will serve alternately as and artist residence and as a small art hotel. They will offer an exceptional residency program in which commissioned artists can respond to the questions posed by the project itself and offer an immersive art experience to future visitors.
As a side project, “42” aim to design furniture for Warracknabeal art hotel’s multi- purpose artist studio/ hotel lobby, which artist and tourist can both utilise.
The final concept is a flip/rotate table can be built within a very limited budget. Use household materials and parts people can buy from Bunnings (like recycled trampoline, pipes, pulp elbows and joints etc) to recreate a planetary form table. The form and choices of materials can successfully reflect the local historical and cultural values. The table face can rotate in two axises, support user to use it as a stand working table or a pinning board. With the LED modular on top it also offers a variety of light sources for artists to choose from.
