Project Description:
‘Reach’ is an outreach service vehicle designed exclusively for shared urban spaces. It’s primary aim is to elevate the community engagement by providing spaces that can facilitate non-adversarial interactions equipped with strategies that can help police officers comfort those who are in distress. This is one of many ways officers can deliver a preventative policing service - by developing a healthy relationship between civilians and the police themselves.
This project proposes a means for the police to foster a culture of empathy, care and wellbeing in the completely digitized future - radicalizing how we view the police and the work they perform.

This sculptural platform offers the opportunity for people just to pop in, spend five minutes having a look around, take some information away in case they, or someone they know, need that support in the future. If anyone does need advice or support, officers will take that person inside the pod to hear them out in privacy.
It is a communal space that brings people together in both good times and difficult moments.
