The product is called Smart Path which is a smart system for the vision impaired at home and it is designed to help them navigate around the house, especially for people who have just got the condition. Smart Path involves a wearable device, a range of wall mount devices and a mobile application and are compatible for both carers and patients. The wall mount devices can be placed anywhere around the house, each wall mount device has two main functions: Sound and Sensor. They can be placed around the house can be connected to the wearable device. When Sound mode is in use, the patient can use the wearable device to connect to the wall mount devices placed around the house to either locate where the patient is at the moment or find a specific area. When Sensor mode is on, they can release sound signals when the patient gets within the sensor, which can prevent them from moving around dangerous areas that they cannot see clearly. To set up, Smart Path app can be used for both carers and patients. Via the app, users can go through many functions such as connecting all the devices together and generating reports.
