In 2099, the Ritual will begin. The Institution of Techo-Spiritualists who call themselves The Community, will gather at their ritual site built on the nuclear testing grounds in Maralinga, South Australia. They will prepare an individual to embark on a ritualistic sequence of events that will culminate in their transcendence into cyborg. The ritual once completed, will threaten to unravel the fabric of humanity. The project speculates on a future where technology and humanity become so entwined that we are no longer perceived human without it. The proposal places humanity at the brink of environmental calamity, asking: in 2099, what will it mean to be human?
