Urba Eco is set in the year 2030, and aims to reactivate the redundant shopping centres of the past and re-adapt them into something that can benefit smaller communities. Urba Eco proposes a subversion to the typology of the shopping mall that has been solidified since its creation. The proposal challenges the current typology through the invitation of community participation. By binding the residents of Cranbourne and surrounding neighbourhoods through a new dining and shopping experience on a micro scale, the project begins to confront the broader issues of the densification of agriculture and urban sprawl on a macro scale.
