Hi, my name is Qiao Wang. With my project is aiming to protect kangaroos which is always hit by the train in Victoria. The kangaroos cannot move when the train comes over because they are blinded by the headlights during the day, however, they will make seemingly crazy direction changes because all they can see is a blinding light. As a result, they will stop and stay in place or rush towards the lights. After colliding by the train, the kangaroo definitely lost their life which is cruel, but also causes damage to the train, and also the train has to stop service on the road by cleaning the kangaroo’s debris under the train.

My design project: using two methods to protect kangaroos

Dingo hunts kangaroo, kangaroo fears dingo. This research inspired me to use dingo barking sound to expel kangaroos. If the kangaroo still standing on the railway, then the airbag which is always installed on the locomotive on the train will hit and bounce the kangaroo off the railway, so that the train can continue running without any damage. The material of my airbag is TPU, a kind of rubber with high resistance, impact resistance, shock absorption, and great flexibility.
My design solutions are economic and could make an effort on saving kangaroos.
