Once the photographer has got the film scans from the film lab, the photographer can upload them onto the desktop platform, and the AI system can automatically match the film scans to the previously sorted photos, ideally one film scan for each back up photo. I believe this system will help photographers using Leica film cameras to enjoy analogue photography more easily.

Therefore, I created the "BACKCA" back up and sorting system, consisting of a back up camera that can shoot synchronously with a Leica film camera and a desktop platform. The back up camera takes the back up photos as the photographer shoots the film, provides a light meter function and records the shooting parameters. The desktop platform allows the photographer to browse his photos, and the AI system built inside the platform helps the photographer automatically sort his photos in the way he wants.

As I love photography, so the subject of my capstone design project at Monash is to create a system for backing up and sorting analogue photographs for Leica.
I shoot a lot of film, so I know the pain of film photography when the photographer misses a moment due to various accidents. Because the film does not record the parameters of the photo, it is very difficult for the photographer to sort the photos in post-production. The common way of sorting by place or time does not apply to analogue photography.
