Graduating Mid-Year Showcase

Siying Wang

I am a creative Chinese illustrator who graduated from Monash University with a Masters in Design and I believe that people's inner worlds are complex and mysterious and I hope to use my skills to express these feelings. Most of the time, I turn my drawing techniques into more vivid animations in order to achieve a better expression.

As you can see, my drawing style is not limited to a specific format, but is more minimalist. I want to use simple lines and colours to stimulate imagination and thought. Of course, I have also been involved in a number of brand design businesses.

Siying Wang, SAYUNA landscape

This is an impressive project for me. I created landscape for Sayuna, an organic food company, which includes the packaging I designed for the peanut biscuits produced by the brand.

I used vibrant greens, bright yellows and some less saturated yellows as the main colours to express my understanding of the Sayuna brand: healthy, close to life and people-oriented.

Siying Wang, The Romantic Channel

This is the title animation that I designed and produced for the romantic channel. I didn't create hair for the characters because I didn't want to give them an exact gender.

Romance is almost the exclusive description of love, and love doesn't always bring joy. There are times when love starts out as romance and gradually changes and even brings harm. A lover's kiss can also become a poison taken voluntarily.

But I also believe that the hurt that has been done will blossom into beautiful roses that will continue to grow gloriously in life.

Siying Wang, Asian elephant

This project is a collaboration with Victora Zoo. I designed a poster of an Asian elephant for it and used AR to attract customers. The MP4 version of the project is now available for you to see.

This short film introduces the Ganesha, an Indian mythological character based on the Asian elephant, and explains its story.

Siying Wang, Playground Animatic

I have designed and produced TV credits for children's themed TV programmes. I created an imaginative part of the story where the protagonist becomes small and uses his room as a playground to have fun from a different perspective than usual.

The main theme of the project was "to meet friends & fun", which reminded me of the companionship of pets for humans. I therefore placed a pet dog in the story to show the children that animals are also good friends to people.

I hope that this film will have a positive impact while engaging children.
