Hawk Liu
My previous work in social media has given me a deep understanding of how people interact with technology, and how design can shape those interactions. Having worked on a variety of projects during my studies at Monash University, from developing new features to improving existing ones, I am always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what's possible.
I have a strong interest in user research and testing, and I believe that understanding the needs and preferences of users is essential to creating great digital products.

Hawk Liu, Vinyl Space
Vinyl Space is a vibrant and dynamic vinyl shop that offers a vast collection of vinyl records and music-related merchandise, located in Collingwood, VIC.
As part of my first-year studies, I undertook a UI redesign project for Vinyl Space, aiming to enhance the business’s digital presence and improve the overall user experience, employing the concept of 2.5D space.
The primary objective of the redesign was to create an intuitive and visually appealing interface that would attract vinyl enthusiasts while providing a multidimensional browsing and album-focused purchasing experience.
Hawk Liu, Lovell
Lovell is an innovative project centred around designing an interactive device and its accompanying user system, aimed at visualising the relationships between participants through dynamic lighting effects. The core objective of Lovell is to provide a tangible and visually engaging means of illustrating the diverse network of relationships that individuals forge in their lives. While having water as the lighting diffuser, the UI adopts a series of bubble elements to echo the physical images of the device. With Lovell, participants are provided with a visually enchanting representation of their relationships, enabling them to gain new insights of human connections.
Hawk Liu, Monee
Monee is an ambitious UX/UI project undertaken in my first semester within Interaction Design Studio, focusing on assisting students in cultivating good habits in bookkeeping and managing their personal finances effectively. With Monee, students get to check their transactions, set up goals and budgets, and examine the statistics of their finance productively, but not necessarily stressed. Monee’s interface features a clean and modern design that appeals to the targeted student demographic. The colour scheme and typography have been carefully selected to evoke a sense of trust, reliability, and youthful energy.
Hawk Liu, MEDUSA
MEDUSA is an evocative artwork that draws inspiration from the traditional myth of Medusa to inspire and motivate individuals to conquer their fears.
Rooted in Greek mythology, Medusa symbolises the paralysing grip of fear, but this artwork seeks to transform that perception and present her as a catalyst for personal growth and empowerment.
Because, if you look carefully, her body is not indestructible but eroded over time juts like our fears. Believe in yourself, you can do more than you can imagine.
Hawk Liu, 'First Date'
"First Date" is an impressive video remake that showcases the design student's talent and expertise in video and audio production, done in a group of 5 including Eddie, Tim, Zuzanna, Kryna, and myself Hawk. Drawing upon the intense and dramatic narrative of 'Whiplash,' "First Date" recreates a key scene with careful attention to details. The video captures the essence of the original film while infusing it with the student's creative vision and technical expertise, such as the extra shyness between the roles, and the location of cafe which is really "Melbourne".
