Lingxiao(Ashley) Zhu, Still, Remember
Still, Remember is an experimental animated film inspired by my grandmother’s experience with Alzheimer’s disease. The story follows a small rabbit as it journeys through a strange house filled with memories, familiar objects, and impossible spaces. Using animation, sound, and environmental storytelling, I wanted to create a feeling of searching, uncertainty, and ultimately connection. The project explores memory not through explanation, but through experience.
Lingxiao(Ashley) Zhu, Replay
Replay is a psychological thriller short film that explores curiosity, consequence, and the blurred boundary between reality and the digital world. The story follows a student who discovers a mysterious online video showing an exact replica of his own room. As the video begins to mirror his actions, a silent figure inside the screen attempts to deliver a warning: “Do not replay.” Ignoring the message, he watches the video again and becomes trapped within it himself. Through suspense, visual storytelling, and a looping narrative structure, the film examines how a single decision can alter reality in unexpected ways.

Lingxiao(Ashley) Zhu, Monsoon Empire (Title Sequence)
Monsoon Empire is a title sequence that reimagines the history of colonial India through motion graphics and visual storytelling. Inspired by traditional Indian murals and historical imagery, the project combines symbolism, animation, and cinematic pacing to explore the rise of imperial power and its human cost. Rather than presenting history directly, the sequence uses visual metaphors and layered compositions to create an immersive and thought-provoking introduction to the story.
Lingxiao(Ashley) Zhu, Kokoda Walk
Kokoda Walk is an experimental short film inspired by the landscapes of the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway. Created using a series of static compositions, the project explores light, colour, texture, and movement within the natural environment. Through editing and music, the film transforms familiar scenery into a more atmospheric and reflective experience, encouraging viewers to slow down and engage with the landscape in a different way.
Lingxiao(Ashley) Zhu, SHOWREEL,
Showreel 2026 brings together a selection of projects created throughout my studies, including film, animation, motion design, branding, and visual storytelling. The reel reflects the themes that continue to appear throughout my work, particularly memory, emotion, personal experiences, and the ways stories can be communicated through visual media. It serves as a snapshot of my creative practice and the different forms it has taken over time.
