Weiyi Liu
With a strong sense of observation and visual sensitivity, I explore how colour, shape, motion, and symbolism can communicate emotions, personalities, and values. My work spans motion graphics, brand identity, packaging, and 3D design, focusing on transforming complex ideas into engaging visual narratives.
I believe design is not only about aesthetics but also about communication. Through bold visual languages and thoughtful storytelling, I create work that is emotionally engaging, conceptually driven, and visually distinctive.

Weiyi Liu, Whisper of the Floating World - Title Sequence
This project presents a mysterious opening title sequence set in the Yoshiwara pleasure district during Japan’s Edo period, exploring the contrast between beauty and hidden danger. Inspired by ukiyo-e aesthetics, the sequence uses flat graphic forms, bold colour contrasts, and symbolic imagery to create an atmosphere of elegance and unease. Through a progression from fantasy to reality and underlying crisis, visual metaphors such as sakura, goldfish, and waves reveal themes of transience, confinement, and concealed tension.

Weiyi Liu, Health & Wellbeing
This project was completed as part of a group assignment exploring the future of Health and Wellbeing in 2045. The project was divided into four sections, each investigating a different aspect of future healthcare. My contribution focused on emotional wellbeing, exploring how Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology could support mental health in a future society. The proposed concept envisions a system that can detect emotional states through neural signals, enabling real-time monitoring and personalised support. By examining the intersection of neurotechnology and emotional care, this project explores new possibilities for promoting wellbeing in 2045.

Weiyi Liu, 3D Modeling - Guitar
This project explores 3D modelling through a collection of objects with contrasting forms and material properties, including a guitar, water bottle, computer mouse, and chess pieces. By combining materials such as wood, glass, plastic, and metal with carefully designed lighting, the project highlights differences in texture, transparency, and reflectivity. The work demonstrates how form, material, and lighting can work together to create realistic and visually engaging 3D renders.

Weiyi Liu, Climate Change - Dynamic Infographic
This project is a dynamic infographic animation that communicates the impacts of climate change through motion design and data visualisation. A warm–cool colour palette forms the foundation of the visual narrative, contrasting red tones associated with carbon emissions and global warming against blue tones representing melting glaciers and rising sea levels. Through this visual contrast, the animation clearly illustrates the cause-and-effect relationship of climate change while making complex environmental data engaging and accessible for younger audiences.
