Rachel Schenberg
Rachel Schenberg is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice addresses questions of how we make meaning through relation. Her works use accumulation of material from the day-to-day, to bring focus to associations of small transactions and exchanges over multiple timeframes. She is interested in associative logic and principles of equivalence: how an object, idea or place can be equated to another. She works across sculpture, video and writing.
a map with feet for letters is the third iteration of her MFA research, hold said (Haydens Gallery, May 2019 and Sarah Scout Presents, November 2019). These exhibitions drew from her recent practice, investigating works made for the scale of the hand, to ask questions of how this location—which we carry with us—can be a mobile site for making meaning. For this rendition she considers the foot, as the facilitator of this mobility.
