Teaching Associated Coaching

Enhance your teaching experience and learn how to sharpen your tutoring skills by attending TAC training!

Our Teaching Associated Coaching (TAC) program is a multi-part professional development activity that provides pre-semester training for all SPHPM staff involved with teaching activities within the School.

Completion of TAC training is a requirement for new teaching associates (TAs) teaching in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine units and courses. Teaching staff who have attended a previous TAC session are also welcome to participate in TAC 2 if they would like a refresher.

TAC training will provide you with:

  • Practical tips on how to teach with confidence
  • Strategies for managing challenging student scenarios
  • Networking opportunities with other staff

Program structure

TAC 1

This session covers the expectations of SPHPM's TAs and guides staff through the fundamentals of teaching at Monash, available support services and resources, and the administrative responsibilities of all TAs.

Moodle component – TAC 1 training is supported by an extensive Moodle resource which includes the completion of online activities, designed to enhance the teaching experience of all staff involved. This is an optional addition.

The TAC 1 program is designed for first-time TAs and TAs who are new to SPHPM.

TAC 2

This highly interactive session draws on the collective experiences of our TAs to develop solutions to common teaching challenges.

The TAC 2 program is designed for existing SPHPM TAs.
