Professor Stephen Jane
Professor Stephen Jane completed his medical degree at Monash University. He entered the physician training program at the Alfred, completing clinical/laboratory haematology and a PhD under Professor Hatem Salem, Director of the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases. He then spent five years in the United States of America, the first three as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, and the remainder on the faculty at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Professor Kathryn North AC
Professor Kathryn North AC is the Director of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) and the David Danks Professor of Child Health Research, University of Melbourne.
Kathryn is a clinician-scientist, trained as a paediatrician, neurologist and geneticist. At MCRI, Kathryn leads a diverse team of over 1800 researchers with a dedicated focus to improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families. Kathryn led Australian Genomics (2016-2025) and is Vice Chair of the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (2014-), a collaborative network across over 100 countries, focussed on the responsible sharing of clinical and genomic data.
