Mask Fit Test requirements to support student clinical placements
The Victorian Respiratory Protection Program was introduced by the Victorian Government to support healthcare workers protect themselves against acquiring respiratory illness by minimising the risk of exposure to respiratory hazards. This risk mitigation includes education and training in the correct application of Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE).

Singh Thattha technique - pilot project with Royal Melbourne Hospital
Update 10 October
The Singh Thattha trail for those who cannot shave for religious, cultural or medical reasons is still continuing. If you have students who may benefit to participating in the trial, the trial organisers can be contacted via email at RespiratoryProtectionProgram@mh.org.au.

A set of stringent assessment criteria is applied, including the need to pass 3 consecutive quantitative fit tests and passing skill assessments with the elastic band technique. These assessments will be repeated on three occasions over a 12-month period.
Participants will be provided with a hard copy of their fit test results. Based on the results of the fit test, it is up to the individual organisation(s) that employ(s) them to decide on the suitability of using the Singh Thattha technique whilst undertaking their specific tasks in their unique environment.
