Police checks

Australian Criminal History Check

All students are required to have a valid Australian nationally coordinated criminal history check at all times while on placement. A valid police check must be issued within the past three years or not more than six months prior to the commencement of the program of study, whichever is later.

Some agencies/placements require an annual check (including all Paramedicine and Human Services placements).  Your School will advise you if this is required.

During your enrolment, you will be advised how and when to apply for a police check. Most schools and departments use Fit2Work as the preferred Police Check provider. An email including payment details and how to satisfy 100 points of certified ID will be sent to your Monash student email account.

The outcome of your Fit2Work application will be emailed to your Monash student email account and you are requested to upload this to your placement portal, InPlace. Students are required to take a copy of their Fit2Work check outcome to their clinical placement venue on orientation day and have it available (most sites will accept a photo on a smartphone) at all times while on placement.

Please contact Fit2Work on: 1300 575 575 for further information regarding your check or email support@fit2work.com.au for assistance.

Your school or department will advise you of any further instructions.

International Criminal History Check

All students are required to provide evidence of their overseas criminal history check if they have, after the age of 16:

  • Been a citizen or permanent resident of any country other than Australia; or
  • Resided continuously in any single country other than Australia for 12 months or more.

Students can apply for an international check via Fit2Work.  Please contact Fit2Work on: 1300 575 575 for further information regarding your check or email support@fit2work.com.au for assistance.

If it is not possible to obtain an international police check without unreasonable cost or delay a Commonwealth Statutory Declaration sworn by the student that states either:

  • The Student is not, in any country, currently under investigation, charged with or have been found guilty of a criminal offence (other than a minor traffic offence); or
  • Details of any current investigation, charges or guilty findings.

Students are required to upload the outcome of their international criminal history check to their student placement portal, InPlace at the commencement of their course.
