How to apply – Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences

Applying for a graduate research degree in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences has several steps. This page sets out what you need to do and our requirements for your application.

Please note - Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology) and Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Neuropsychology), should follow the School of Psychological Sciences application process as it differs from other graduate research degree application proceses.

Before applying for a graduate research degree with the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science, check that you meet Monash’s eligibility requirements.
The admission criteria has further information on entry requirements for graduate research.
If English is your second language check the English Language requirements for graduate research programs in MNHS.
You must meet the entry requirements for the course you are applying for.
Once you have confirmed you meet eligibility requirements you need to find and be accepted by a supervisor before you can apply.
Find a supervisor
You can use Supervisor Connect to browse supervisors and research projects available in Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, or explore our research strengths and schools, departments and institutes to find the right fit.
When contacting a potential supervisor, you should complete the
Graduate Research Pre Application Eligibility Check and attach your CV.
All applicants must submit a brief research proposal with their application. You should prepare this in conjunction with your prospective supervisor.
Applicants for PhDs in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology should follow steps one and two above.
Refer to Clinical Doctoral Programs Admission Process for information and instructions when completing an application for (4585) Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology) and (4586) Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Neuropsychology).

Admission-only applications can be submitted at any time.
Applicants to the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences at Monash University Malaysia should refer to the Monash Malaysia graduate research page for application guidance.
Applicants to the PhD program at Monash Indonesia should refer to the Monash Indonesia PhD Program page for application guidance.

Applications are submitted through the central My.App portal.

Once you submit your application it will be directed to your nominated supervisor and the Faculty for review. If you meet baseline eligibility criteria you may be contacted for an interview, your references checked or asked to provide further information if needed.
For admission-only applications, please allow four to six weeks for your application to be processed. If your application is unsuccessful, you can contact your school or academic unit directly for feedback.
