Application submission guide

When you're ready to start your application, go to the myApp portal.

This guide is not for re-admission, Higher Doctorate, or joint PhD applications (where Monash is the host) as there are different application processes for these outlined on our how to apply page.

Before you start

Supporting documents

You’ll need to provide supporting documents as part of your application. It’s a good idea to have all your documentation on hand before you start. If you’re doing a performance-based PhD, you may be asked for additional information and supporting documents.

If any of your documents are not in English, you need to provide certified translated copies. Our preference is translations made by NAATI-qualified translators. You’ll find more information on the certifying documents page. It’s important to get your documentation right, otherwise it may hold up your application.

If you’re currently enrolled and applying to transfer to another Monash research degree (e.g. PhD to masters or masters to PhD), you should also upload a document outlining the reasons for your transfer request.

An academic resumé (CV) is required as part of your application. Your CV should include:

  • academic qualifications
  • scholarships and awards
  • relevant employment
  • publications, exhibitions or performances.

Course transfers

If you're transferring from one Monash graduate research degree to another – and are currently receiving a centrally allocated scholarship and your research project is unchanged – you don’t need to reapply for a scholarship. For more information, see the Transfer between graduate research degrees section of the scholarship policy and procedures.
