Our two-year Master of Philosophy (MPhil) can be great stepping stone into doctoral-level research, as can the vast suite of master's by research degrees we offer.
As with a PhD, completing an MPhil or master's by research degree requires you to submit a thesis for assessment. Certain disciplines may also require you to submit creative work or performance may also form part of your thesis. Because of this, many of our MPhil and master's by research degree candidates find it possible to deepen and extend the scope of their research and transition into a four-year PhD.

Work submitted for the degree normally comprises publications that have appeared as books or papers in scholarly journals that are then presented in the form of a thesis. The degree will give you authoritative standing in your field.
