Registrations for Three Minute Thesis 2026 have now closed

How does it work?

First, register to compete at your faculty/institute's local 3MT competition. Registrations usually open around the start of April each year.

Note:

• Monash University Malaysia (MUM) students should register for the MUM 3MT competition.
• Monash University Indonesia (MUI) students should register for the MUI 3MT competition.
• IITB-Monash students currently in Australia should register for their Monash faculty/institute's 3MT competition, while IITB-Monash students currently in India should register for the IITB-Monash 3MT competition.
• Students not based at Monash University Australia, Monash University Malaysia, Monash University Indonesia or IITB-Monash, are advised to plan to participate in 3MT during the period that they will be based at one of those locations.

Each of the faculties and campuses listed below hosted a local round in 2026. Following these local rounds, faculties and campuses then nominated students to compete at the next stages of the competition.

Students may be nominated as a Finalist or a Wildcard. Finalists proceeded directly to the Monash University 3MT Final in August, while Wildcards competed at the 3MT Wildcard event in July for the last remaining spot at the Final.

• Faculty of Engineering: Final held on Wednesday 10th June
• Faculty of Information Technology: Final held on  Wednesday 17th June
• Faculty of Law: Final held on Thursday 25th June
• Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences: Final held on Wednesday 24th June
• Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences: Final held on Thursday 18th June
• Faculty of Science: Final held on Wednesday 24th June
• Monash Art, Design and Architecture (MADA): Final held on Wednesday 17th June

• Monash University Malaysia (MUM): Final held on Tuesday 16th June
• Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB-Monash): Final held on Wednesday 20th May
