Dr Samuel is a Research Officer in the Climate, Air Quality Research Unit within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University. Samuel received his PhD in epidemiology and public health from the University of Queensland, and his Master of Science from Jimma University, Ethiopia.
Before coming to this position, Samuel worked as an Epidemiologist for the Department of Health, Victoria, and as a Research Assistant at the University of Queensland. Samuel’s specific expertise includes infectious disease epidemiology, data linkage, and statistical methodologies, including spatial analysis and mapping.
His current research focuses on evaluating the impact of extreme climate conditions on mortalities (from all causes and cardiovascular diseases), and adverse health outcomes, using multicountry data and a multi-stage statistical approach.
