Dr Catherine Lopes is a proud Monash alumna, with nearly three decades of experience spanning academia, consulting, and industry. She has worked across financial services, energy, and technology sectors, leading large-scale data and AI transformations, and building high-performing teams at an enterprise level. Her international experience across Australia, the United States, and China, has shaped a global perspective on the role of data and AI in driving innovation and impact.

Dr Lopes began her journey in academia, where her Doctor of Philosophy research in Machine Learning was recognised with the Mollie Holman Doctoral Medal at Monash University in 2005. She has since bridged the worlds of research and real-world application, held executive roles including Chief Data and Analytics Officer, and advised organisations on how to harness data and AI to drive innovation, performance, and responsible decision-making.

Her journey from academia to executive leadership reflects a deep commitment to continuous learning, adaptability, and translating complex ideas into meaningful outcomes. In addition to her corporate leadership, Dr Lopes has also been involved in entrepreneurial ventures in several startups in the media and health care space.

Throughout her career, Dr Lopes has been driven by a passion for real-world impact. She has led the design and execution of enterprise data strategies, digital transformations, and AI-driven solutions that enhance customer and employee experience, and business operational efficiency. Today, she continues to influence at the highest levels as a Non-Executive Director across multiple boards and councils, and as an advisory board member to leading universities.

Beyond her professional commitment, Dr Lopes is deeply committed to giving back to the community. She is the founder of Ada's Tribe, a community dedicated to empowering women in data, AI, and analytics. She has mentored many students and professionals, supporting their transition into industry and helping them build meaningful, future-ready careers.

As an advocate for ethical AI and inclusive leadership, Dr Lopes is passionate about shaping a future where technology serves society responsibly.
