Dr Victoria Lynn

Dr Victoria Lynn is an innovative curator and leading museum director of fine art collections and exhibitions.

Nationally recognised for her commitment to First Nations art and culture, and meaningful engagement with First Nations communities, Dr Lynn has been Director of TarraWarra Museum of Art (located on Wurundjeri Country, Yarra Valley) since 2012. At TarraWarra she has curated or co-curated several thematic exhibitions including the TarraWarra International, TarraWarra Biennial and The Soils Project, working with leading international and Australian artists including Pierre Huyghe, Patricia Piccinini, Rosemary Laing and Judy Watson.

Prior to TarraWarra, Dr Lynn held senior roles at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Melbourne and Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney. As an independent curator, she curated two international exhibitions at the Adelaide Festival (2010 and 2012), The Trickster, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, Korea (2010); Julie Rrap: Body Double, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (2007 to 2008); and turbulence, 3rd Auckland Triennial (2007) and Regarding Fear and Hope, Monash University Museum of Art (2007).

A widely published author on contemporary art, Dr Lynn has a Doctor of Philosophy from Monash University, a Master of Arts Administration from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Sydney University. She was Member (1995 to 1998) and Chair (1998 to 2000) of the Performance Space, Sydney and Chair of the Visual Arts Board of the Australia Council, (2001 to 2003). She has also been a Committee Member at the Monash University Museum of Art (2006 to 2011) and Member (2015 to 2018) and Chair (2018 to 2023) of Experimenta Media Arts. Dr Lynn was also made a Fellow of Monash University in 2024.

Dr Lynn has actively resourced and developed a unique working relationship between TarraWarra Museum of Art, and members of the local First Nations community, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
