Ms Lauren Perfect

Ms Lauren Perfect is an accomplished educational leader with over two decades of experience in independent schools, specialising in student-centred learning and wellbeing. Appointed Principal of Mentone Girls’ Grammar School in 2025, she brings a vision grounded in compassion, collaboration and student agency. Her leadership is underpinned by a belief that personal development flourishes within a community committed to shared purpose and inclusive values.

Prior to her current role, Ms Perfect served as Deputy Principal and Head of Senior School at Ruyton Girls’ School, where she led significant strategic and cultural initiatives. These included modernising the student leadership framework, redesigning wellbeing programs to meet the evolving needs of girls and expanding student pathways with a focus on flexibility and inclusion. She played a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic, managing the transition to remote learning and a successful return to on-campus operations.

Earlier, Ms Perfect held a series of leadership positions at Haileybury College, including Head of Senior School – Brighton, Head of Year 12 across multiple campuses, and Head of House. Her work at Haileybury spanned pastoral care, community engagement, and curriculum innovation, all while leading large staff and student teams.

A recognised voice in education, Ms Perfect has presented nationally and internationally on student leadership, wellbeing, and girls’ education, most notably at the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools (ICGS) and Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA) conferences. As a Senior History teacher, her work has been published across multiple platforms including the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria (HTAV) and Edrolo, and she has also contributed to curriculum development and assessment for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).

Ms Perfect holds a Master of Education in Leadership from The University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts from Monash University. She is a graduate of the Leadership: An Evolving Vision course (Harvard University), AHISA/ISV Aspiring Principals and New Principals Programs and the Australian Institute of Company Directors course.
