Mr Shane Buggle
After a 25-year career with the ANZ Banking Group, Mr Shane Buggle retired in November 2021 from the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Over his time at ANZ, Mr Buggle held a wide variety of roles, including Group General Manager - Internal Audit, Deputy Group CFO, CFO Institutional, CFO Australia and CFO Consumer Finance.
Mr Buggle has in excess of 35 years’ experience in the finance sector and has held senior roles at Zurich Financial Services and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a postgraduate diploma in professional accounting from the University College Dublin, is a Fellow of each of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In the past, Mr Buggle served on the National Executive of the Group of 100.
Mr Buggle was a member of the Council of Monash University from 2007 to 2018 and chaired the University’s Resources and Finance Committee from 2008 to 2018. He was a Deputy Chancellor of Monash University from 2015 to 2018 and served as the inaugural chair of the University’s Investment Advisory Committee.
With a deep interest in Indigenous engagement and inclusion, Mr Buggle was the Chair of ANZ’s Reconciliation Action Plan as well as the executive sponsor of the Reconciliation Network and of Ngarga Wangaddja.
Mr Buggle is currently a Director of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Diocesan Finance Committee for the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
Mr Buggle and his wife, Ms Rosie Callanan, have three sons each of whom is currently undertaking undergraduate studies at Monash University.
